WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO HIDE Psalm 18:3 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. According to Open Doors World Watch List Press Conference, January 2017, on the topic of Christian Persecution, the year 2016 was the worst year on record for violence and other acts of persecution against Christian followers. Their independently audited study also disclosed that 215 million Christians were exposed to “high level acts of persecution” worldwide; that equates to one in every twelve Christians on this planet faces some form of high level persecution. One in twelve. 215 million acts of persecution that include: murder, torture, abduction, arrest, imprisonment, beatings, rape, public lashings, destruction of properties including churches and homes, and more. And the world is primarily concerned about Syrian refugees?.... Seriously? It boggles the mind to think that in this advanced society such statistics exist. And to make matters worse, you almost never hear about these statistics in the mainstream news media. The overwhelming, hands down majority of persecutors are followers of Islam. Now, think for a moment if 215 million Muslims were being violently persecuted by Christians across the world each year – would that make the six o’clock news? Of course – in a heartbeat and it would stay in the news cycle indefinitely. Why, then, are Christians being ignored in what Open Doors USA calls one of the greatest humanitarian crises of modern society? Does it have something to do with being frightened to speak up and point the finger in the direction of Muslims? Because, clearly, that is where the finger needs to be pointed. I’m not being anti Islam or racist against Muslims; facts are facts. If turkeys from mars were persecuting Christians I would want the finger pointed at them and I would want their atrocities reported in the news media just as well. And, like President Trump, I don’t care about being politically correct so I have no hesitations in pointing the finger. Proof is in the hummus. “Persecution of Christians in the Middle East, which has already forced tens of thousands of men, women and children to flee for their lives, is a 21st century genocide.” Dova International Charities The World Watch List 2017’s study of last year’s record breaking violence against the faithful shows that out of the over one hundred countries that persecute Christians most are Islamic states. Here are just the top fifteen (and North Korea just crept past Somalia as number one by one percentage point): Take a good look at this list and at the expanded online lists. A lot of questions pop up about things like economic trade, foreign aid money and military assistance and protection given basically, to those who wish to bring an end to our form of worship. And then ask yourself, why. Why is foreign aid or any kind of assistance given to countries that commit violent acts against Christian worshipers? Because we are Christians and we turn the other cheek and that is what Christian goodness is all about?
That kind of thinking is why Christians are the most persecuted human beings on the planet. There has to be a line in the sand that separates Christian responsibilities toward kindness and forgiveness and to love our neighbors from Christian responsibilities to be a unified force against evil and persecution and to weed such things out of society and save our faith from annihilation - which is the very goal of our persecutors. Remember, Christianity is the greatest source of goodness in the history of humanity. Saving the cross from the haters is a responsibility to all people in all nations and to the future of our species. Last year there was a video of ISIS Islamic crusaders marching thirty Ethiopian Christians along a beach to their own beheadings in Libya. I can recall wondering why this wasn’t front page news in every nation, particularly every Christian nation around the world. And I can recall wondering further what the world press would say if thirty Christian soldiers marched thirty Muslims to their beheadings along the sandy shores of Miami beach. Well, it is very easy to assume that there would be hysterical outrage everywhere. So then, what is it about being Christian that instantly suppresses outrage for atrocities committed against us? Is it our wealth? Our superior numbers of the faithful following Christianity? Is it the great goodness that we have brought to this planet for two thousand years? Is it jealousy over the fact that we are recognized as the preeminent faith on the planet? Is it the sort of simple minded thinking that, “my faith is better than yours so therefore you die,” kind of attitude? Or, is it the beginning of the end of Christian spiritual dominance on the planet? Islam has been rising for decades and spreading its population to all corners of the earth much like Christianity did in the first few hundred years after Christ and then more so after the sanctification of the faith and the birth of monotheism by Emperor Constantine of Rome. And now the Muslim world is rising everywhere and bringing terror, fear and violence in its footsteps. It is time to unite, fight, out-think, out-speak, out-love, out-scream, run, jump – time to do what it takes to change this trend and reverse the forward forces of persecution. The greatest goodness on earth is under attack. If destroyed, it will be replaced by Islam and Sharia law – most definitely not the greatest source of goodness on earth. Get educated, get involved. Start at your community level and by giving to international organizations fighting this cause with no government or big business help. Talk about our plight. Talk to your friends, to your pastors, your congregation members; write to your local editors of newspapers and television news programs and make your feelings heard by politicians at every level. And don’t fear political correctness and bleeding heart liberalism that wants to see the world through rose colored glasses. The time to sing Kumbaya, turn the other cheek and pass out daisies is behind us. This can be corrected. God will help. __________________________________________________________ Resources: The Voice Of The Martyrs Persecution.com: Excellent site full of testimony and statistics. http://www.persecution.com Open Doors USA: 2017 World Watch List Statistics on deaths, abductions, beatings, killings, destroyed churches and properties.
