THOUGHTS OF VEGANISM AND GOD Luke 12:22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. Deep thoughts of veganism have found me again just when I did a spring cleaning of my brain closets and filed away all the things no longer worthy of depriving space for my new thoughts. Why this aversion to meat protein puzzles me; it's not like I have a love for food in primary colors and I am indifferent to the harvesting of creatures; I'm not eating bunnies, mind you, but oddly I am thinking of foregoing flesh for fresh vegetables to cleanse my soul of carnivore annibalism, dirty narcissistic canine toothed soul consumer that I am. Thoughts..... It’s funny how thoughts are valued. One man's garbage is another man's treasure; one man's steak is another man's eggplant; one man's thought is another man's mental nuisance. One minute there is not enough time to truly dedicate to all the dynamics of a thought and the next moment it is just a spit out of your mouth bearing no greater significance than a long eyebrow hair or a recipe for hummus or a rabbit's foot on a chain. Thoughts. I wonder where they go. Where things go that are tossed away unwanted like stale dated hamburger or incorporeal things like laughter and love and anger and envy and God and Satan and the former Soviet Union and intangible thoughts in general. Are they just eaten up by the starving universe left to digest in a belly pit of thoughts like a million snakes in some dank serpent thought orgy? Somewhere, I suspect, perhaps in a thought, there is a massive land fill with steaming yellow thoughts filling the sky amidst sounds of cracking whips and roaring machines and slave workers slamming iron picks into time hardened thoughts to lessen the effort of the sun's teeth and jaw to crunch through and transform them into red lava oozing vile unspoken thoughts and words and phrases and screams and smiles as thought deprived humans peck through the trash like hungry dog thoughts looking for thoughts of bones and visions of Jesus and every once in a while one screams out: “Hallelujah !!!! Praise The Lord! I got me one!” Which is really just another thought about God and an extension of our quest to be saved from our thoughts of guilt and poverty and failure and despair and salvation from sin and deliverance to forgiveness and a get out of jail free card to enable eternal loitering among the satin white clouds of heaven or a thousand virgins depending upon which of the two most thought about God thoughts are the God thoughts you think about. God preference is the ultimate thought, after all. As for me, right now, my veganized thoughts have me grilling gluten wheat meat and tossing a Greek salad sans cheese for lunch but I am also thinking about oven roasted lamb laying in a bed of potatoes, mint leaves and rosemary.... and, I am thinking about God, too, of course. Thoughts. They are what differentiates us from everything in the universe… and God. Some would even say, without physical evidence, that God is nothing more than a thought. Now there's something to really think about. Comments are closed.
