2 Corinthians 10:3 Yes, we are mere humans, but we don’t fight the war in a merely human way. 4) The weapons we use for the fight, you see, are not merely human; they carry a power from God……. ALTERNATE EARTH AND PLUNDERING IN THE NAME OF THE LORD On the other side of the sun there is a planet opposite to earth in a mirror orbit; as we pass one side it passes the other. Like the back of our head, or as the mind appears to the brain - like God - we can never see it, but that doesn't mean it isn't there. Hypothetically, prove me hypothetically wrong. There may or may not be a version of Venus and Mars and the others, there may not be a moon or a north star, big or little dippers. Perhaps alternate earth exists only with its oceans and mountains and great Plains and continents and jungles and islands and deserts and blue skies and animals and dinosaur bones and primates and people just like us. Perhaps they have found a way to live in total peace and love and harmony, without evil and the black hand that guides the dark side of earthman. Maybe God lives there on a misty mountaintop with alternate sheep keeping a safe distance from us. Maybe alternate earth is heaven; maybe this earth is hell. If we were to travel someday to the other side of the sun it would be nice to think we would bring a parallel zeitgeist of peace and love that our God talks about in his book with the golden cross; but we don't actually honor his words consistently or do faithful deeds faithfully like we say we do religiously in the pews on Sunday. And in reality we must all agree that we would likely bring war and death and misery to Alternate Earth for humans bring these things everywhere we go like change in our pockets or rings of keys or our cell phones and particular human microbic diseases like we did here when we crossed the seas and discovered a round world beyond the flat horizon with great land masses on the mirrored side full of riches and resources and native Indians to conquer, kill and involve in our experimental genocide in order to establish our democracies and freedoms and capitalistic societies and appease our great fears of kings and queens and monarchies and yes, indigenous human beings. In fact, if humankind travels beyond our eyes and roams the stars in our shiny new spacecars and discovers new worlds with all our phony narcissistic goodness at some point we will kill the life we find without a second thought in our quasi compassionate superminds for we will fear and want to be feared and we will want what they got that we can get regardless of the cost or the consequence of the crime and with treacherous indifference for the moral eyes of time. We will be those aliens in our Hollywood movies with red eyes and raging screaming machines and laser toting robots tall as clouds that thrash across fields and cities mowing life down like tidal waves sweeping people off of a beach for we are the epitome of catastrophe and destruction and our second most dear to our hearts specialty : extinction. And as we say, we will do it all for the glory of our God who chooses not to live on our own misty mountaintops with our own earthman sheep which should make us all stop and wonder: What is it about us that hides God's face? What is wrong between God and the human race? What forces us asunder? Could it be his discontent with our super-duper number one earthman specialty, that howling hail infected wind of mangod insanity: our great human lust for plunder? Go Vikings!
The Supreme Builders of Extremes Dam me, but sometimes I question the godly plan, his carefully orchestrated symphony of our fate, his strategic placements of all the carrots he puts just beyond reach of our noses, beyond the grasp of our hands, on the other side of the door to our hearts. I question the concept of him seated in the clouds, feather quill in hand, a list of names deep as the sky, scribbling on a papyrus scroll, leaning back on a golden throne interpreting a swarm of ideas about destiny without rhyme or reason to the machinations of his holy creations as he sits deep in concentration simultaneously plotting peace and war and good fortunate and tragedy and mass extinction. I question the claim that a random universe is an impossible truthless concept like aliens from outer space or that theory that there is another God in that other religious place where people blindly worship unsubstantiated ancient dogma and a god without a face. I question things like starvation and failure and murder and rapture and sadness and madness and Armageddon, cancer and leprosy and war and hypocrisy and hate and crime and genocide, yin and yang and atomic bombs and nuclear bangs and why them and not me and why me and not them and there but for the grace of God go I, and all the other indigestible godly paradigms and catechisms and aphorisms and twisted wordisms that we are required to memorize and to live religiously by. And then this sacrilegious thought occurred: If God is the root of good, he must also be the root of evil, otherwise, he appears powerless against evil for it has been in existence since he and we got here; and no omnipotent loving God would ever allow evil a single breath in his fragile creation without fighting it to a bitter death and bringing his children symbolic eternal salvation; and if he is the creator of evil as well as good then he is no different than humans for when it comes to constructing good and bad things we are the supreme builders of extremes. And if God is no different than human beings then who plans what fate for whom? |
